MATIESEN

Red Wine

With the Matiesen wines we salute the wine culture of the first Republic of Estonia. The legend dates back to 1910 – Luscher and Matiesen were well-known merchants of that time who enriched the local wine culture. In Toompea the biggest wine factory of Tallinn was established and broad variety of products was imported. Now the Matiesen brand is back, offering wine experiences from the best wineries of Europe.

For the Matiesen red we have chosen a Spanish red wine made of Tempranillo grapes. This wine comes from Bodegas Los Tinos, a wine manufacturer with long traditions. The Matiesen red wine has been produced using traditional methods as well as contemporary technology, it has been aged in an oak barrel. Traditions were highly valued already in the 1920s and 1930s – wine merchants Luscher and Matiesen in Estonia had several dark red wines that were aged in oak barrel, among their product line.

Wishing to pass on the legacy and brand of Luscher&Matiesen, we have preserved the 1930s style on the etiquettes. Enjoy!

The Matiesen red wine has a rich intence color with a violet hint. The wine is young, fruity and refreshing. It has a long aftertaste with a strong ripe berry aroma, but also the time aged in oak has influenced this great dark spanish wine. We especially recommend it with meat, creamy pasta and spicy national foods. Serve chilled.
